straw hat Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Just want to blow off some steam. The wife and I went bank fishing this AM near CC to see if there was any crappie spawning. After about an hour my heart started to act up. I laid on the ground for over thirty minutes. During that time my wife was unable to get any assitance. She then wound up making three trips back to the vehicle to take the gear back to the car. Afterward she got under my arm and help support me on the way back to the car. On the way back we passed four people, none of which offered any help or even asked what was wrong. I felt like my life had no value. I am know resting comfortably in bed. There is no need to respod I just had to get it off my chest.

zipstick Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I probably shouldn't get into this without being there, but did your wife beckon directly to anyone for help? In a potentially life threatening situation, I think that it pays off to really let people know that help is needed right away and be direct about it. If you and your wife were ingored after asking for help, then that is terrible! What seemed obvious to you in this situation may not have been to those who were there. So sorry that you didn't get any help. Could you have used a cell phone right away to try to get help? I'm not familiar with that area, and don't really know the options there, but if you have a heart condition, I think I would be very prudent be in range of a cell tower.
straw hat Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 She simply told them that her husband was sick and she wanted some help carrying the stuff back to the car. I was within the range of a cell tower. My heart condition is due to nerve damage to my heart and there is nothing that can be done for it. I do always try to stay in range of a cell tower and if need be I could have called a freind from Springfield to come help. I was just disappointed that out of 4 people no one would help her carry the gear back to the vehicle nor did anyone ask what was wrong. I guess there are just people like that in the world.

Hey Straw Hat, I like your lake conditions reports, But I don't like this on. I am disapointed that no one would help, They could have least helped your wife carry things to the truck! Hang in there! Se ya on the water!!!!
Members Zac Seale Posted April 11, 2010 Members Posted April 11, 2010 Straw, that is terrible. My wife and I actually helped an older gentleman get back up the steep rock bank over there a few weeks ago, I guess the small town values we were raised with aren't found with some others that come down to use the lake. I hope you get to feeling better and hope to see you out there soon. -Zac
Gilly Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Straw, Where you screwed up was you didn't have the orange 'Ozark Anglers' sticker on your hat. In all seriousness though it is very disappointing to hear of the lack of compassion exhibited by those folks. Especially in light of the fact your wife asked them. That is the first incident I've heard of or witnessed around Stockton since we started checking the area out about a year ago. We have found people to be very nice for the most part although I'm sure there are some grumble asses out there having a bad day. www.drydock516.com
