Members Wildeye Posted April 13, 2010 Members Posted April 13, 2010 Camped at Hickory for 6 days and had a blast. Fishing was tough on us though. We concentrated on stripers, draggin bait all over the war eagle arm and even up to around hwy12 bridge and spots in between. Only landed 2 all week and missed maybe 5, both landed around 10lbs. Durning the afternoon we would run into the back of Piney creek and load up on monster whites, also could freshen up our shad back there, they are thick. Also mixed in several largemouths and spots at about every spot we fished up to about 3lbs.

Other's have posted wondering where they might be.... I was wondering too, but haven't had the chance to get out and look for them. If they bit all the time they'd call it catching....instead of fishing...
Quillback Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Great report, you picked a great time to camp, couldn't have asked for better weather.
Members Fayetteville Fish Assassin Posted April 13, 2010 Members Posted April 13, 2010 I've been out too Piney twice in the past couple days. Saturday did ok all the way in the back, the baitfish were everywhere. Went back last night and was getting some hits around 7:00, caught a couple. It seems too me like the later you can stay the better. My lights aren't working right on my boat so I have too head back around 7:15, but it seemed like the bites were picking up right around that time last night. Water temp was around 64 degrees.
Members Wildeye Posted April 13, 2010 Author Members Posted April 13, 2010 We found them deep in the mouth of the cuts when they werent in the back end or shallow water. Had our best luck letting traps sink down to 15foot or so then bringing them in slow and erratic. Also had good luck on medium sized swim baits.
