Seth Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I never have messed with putting eyes on my jigs, but a lot of people swear it makes the jigs work better. The micro jigs I buy and use always seem to outfish my home tied ones, and the only noticeable different are the eyes on the store bought ones. Do you guys glue eyes on or do you paint them on yourself? I never have found eyes small enough to put on those little 1/80 and 1/100 jig heads, so I am assuming they are painted on.
Okieflyfisher53 Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Seth, I don't usually paint eyes on my jigs but I often do on streamers. I use a small dowel rod or a round toothpick to apply the paint, depending on the size of the head. Steve
Members Stuartwp Posted June 1, 2006 Members Posted June 1, 2006 Finger Nial Polish! Get white, black, yellow, and red and you can eye all the jigs you want, and each bottle has its own built in brush. Its not necessary, but you can put a few BB gun BB's in each jar to aid in shaking up the colors each time you want to use. On really tiny micro jigs 1/100 ounce and smaller. Bulk paint the heads with white epoxy spray paint. Then dot black or red eyes on them with the water proof markers made by Sharpie. For a good shine and to toughen up your new paint jog, give them a hand coat of Salley Hansen Hard as Nails clear fingernail polish. This is the $3.95 per bottle stuff but it works very well. Good luck!
