Just a quick fishing report. I fished Elk river on Sunday from 8:30 to noon and did alright. Started out fishing with a jig that I make and caught my first smallie of the day. He was a fat 15" and not the last one either. The stretch of water I was on was making things a little difficult to fish. The current was at a good clip and the water was a little bit cold when I got my feet wet! In other words I didn't want to go past the riffles and wade back up! Anyways, I ended up catching 7 smallies all in the 12-15" range, one largemouth, but he got off at the boat and last but not least, I landed a big 'ol drum in the 6-7 pound range. Caught him on a gulp minnow no less. At least it gave my new rod a workout. All the fish I caught were either caught on a jig or the gulp minnow. Fishing is heating up!

Nice report. I bet that drum gave you a run for your money. Did you think you had a record smallmouth? I know I would have.

If you dont mind, which section did you hit? I am thinking about taking the drift boat up there this weekend for some rowing practice and to hook a few bronzies.

No Buzz, I have caught so many of those dang things I pretty much knew when I hooked into him he was probably a drum. They like to run on the bottom and it's dang near impossible to turn their heads back towards you. Yea, I'm the drum master. BTW, I was on the lower section of Elk Zack.
