I am new to fishing Mcdaniels, however I have never seen a lake shore so littered with trash and fish guck. I know if I were in so sort of position with C.U. and I was too see it, I would close all fishing. I do hope this never happens, and people can start taking the time to pick up after them selfs. I would also like to see a couple of thash cans on each end of the bridge, then maybe the idiots wouldn't have a reason to "forget" their trash.

Side note why do they not let you wade fish in Fellows but will let you water ski. That just does not make since to me.

Sadly that has been the case with that lake. Not to offend anyone but just looking at the people who fish it should clue you in. Not sure about the water skiis though.

I talked to C.U a couple years ago why there are no boats allowed on McDanials. There reason, funny enough, was that they didn't want boats to lower the water quality. In my opinion I would like to see it opened up and put in a marina, security, and a park. Make it nice like Fellows. Right now its just a trash pit, with good fishing and wierd people living in the woods.... There are huge bass in that lake. When the water gets down in the fall you can flat wear them out. Oh, and whoever you seen water sking at fellows has no clue, there is no sking, swimming, wading etc. not to say I havent "fallen" in the lake on a hot day

I am totaly for the park, and a little more security, but not boats unless it's a boat with no motor (i.e. baddle boat, canoe, yak, or even a flat bottom with ores). I just think boats with motors could cause more problems and its not that big of a lake. I have totaly fallen for this lake but it needs a lot of work.

As far as water skiing on Fellows I got that from the brochure with the map on it they gave it to me a the marina, it says you can water ski in the main body of the lake and has it drawn out on the map. If I had a scanner I would post it.

Yeah I'm with you on boats without motors, maybe a trolling motor. But no gas motors. Strange about the fellows water skiing, I guess I just assumed that. It is stange that there is no swimming or wading but you can ski. But if you fall in the lake I guess you have to sink to the bottom and not swim lol . Man in mcdanials, i bet there are some off shore trees and ledges with monsters hanging on them.

I wonder what the penalty would be if...lets say...someone drops in the McDaniels lake with their kayak and started fishing... How long would it take for someone to get their and just how much trouble would you really get in....Not saying I would do that or anything. I guess they would probably give you a warning...just curious.

A few years back some young folks were drinking and swimming at night near the dam. Somebody did not make it out alive. I am figuring that is why no swimming, people do not respect what a great fishery this lake is. Snuck a 2 man in there 1 night and the sheriff's department spot lighted all the lake he could. We just hunkered down under a tree branch, turned off black light and waited for him to vacate. Caught the most fish, just out of reach from allocated fishing areas. I imagine an empty truck parked there, with nobody around did spark some interest. But that was back when we did not have a care in the world. Miss those days........taco
