Members swb311 Posted April 28, 2010 Members Posted April 28, 2010 We got a couple largemouth on spinners off Indian Point before the rain got bad on Saturday night.
jay bird Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Went out last night had 4 keepers with the biggest being 3#s and a 25 inch 6# eye that put up a great fight. Lost count of short fish at 14 1/2 inches. Was back at the ramp by 10:30.
Jason Essary Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 Hey, i used to do a lot of night fishing a few years ago but not so much the last 2-3 years. I always used jigs and texas rigged worms and did ok. I used to try a dark single colorado spinnerbait based upon what i read in magazines and whatnot but would not really give it all that much of a chance and didnt really know how to work it. So with you guys saying that you have success using spinners at night i'd like to give it another try, how are you using them? Slow rolling? Also what kind of locations? Docks? Pea Gravel? Better during full moon or no moon? How bout during the summer time? -Brett Love to use the spinner about anywhere you think a topwater would work during the day. Normally slow rolling it back (keep it out of the moss), but last year learned how to pump one. Its a new tech. for me, but you raise the rod to 12'oclock and let it flutter down while you lower and wind in the slack then pump it again, staying close to the bottom. That night they hammered the pumping but would not take it if it was a steady retreive. rps Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 War Eagle also makes the black/red/black blade model in their twin spin. Killer night time bait. Twins are especially good if you intend to pump as Jason described, or to pull and fall the bait down a point or bluff. The two blade arrangement causes the bait to fall with the hook point up and ready to set.
Jason Essary Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 rps, I have seen those. Been wondering what the advantages were for them. I might have to get one and give it a try.
