Gatorjet Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 WOW, what a great couple days of fishing. As mentioned in Phil's fishing report, I got my first catch and release pin and certificate for a nice 20" Rainbow caught Wednesday April 21. Caught on a white 1/8 oz PJ's Jig. That was one of about 30 Trout I caught that morning. The catch includes a lot of fat and scrappy 12"-14" fish. A very pretty 15 1/2" and another almost 18" AND THE BIG GUY AND NOW FOR THE REST OF THE STORY PART On Thursday morning I started again at Lookout, and without getting nearly as good of results with the white jig, I switched to a 1/8 oz Sculpin/Olive PJ's jig. Not quite as many fish, but still a good morning of catching quality 12-14 inch Trout. Then things changed big time!! A little farther down from yesterday's "Honey Hole" I had something hit the jig like a truck! After 15 or so minutes, several long runs, a couple trips under the boat, and one in-and-out of the net I boated a 23" beauty. Good thing I have a jet, he went under the turbine two or three times. Had I had an outboald in the water he would have been gone for sure! I can't tell where my "Honey Holes" are, but Wednesday while I was fishing along the steep bluff side of the lake I thought for sure I could hear someone singing "Moon River". And Thursday, I guess drifting past a pink house high on the bluff above was VERY lucky for me. The fishing didn't end with all the fun above Fall Creek. Wanting a few "eaters" to take home, after I went in for lunch I fished from Fall Creek to Short Creek with the same Sculpin/Olive jig and probably caught a dozen more 12"-14" fish including this beauty caught and released just below Fall Creek. Real men go propless!
Bman Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Way to go! what a great day. I hope you leave a few for me during my stay at Lilley's in a couple weeks. The only good line is a tight line
