Don Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I'm camping at Roark Bluff next week. I flyfished last year and hooked a nice 4-5 lb ? bass near the swimming area on a wooly bugger but wasn't able to land him. Any flyfishing recommendations for wading shallow banks along the lake for carp, bass, bluegill, crappie, etc.? Thanks, Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Flysmallie Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I would concentrate on the riprap around the bridges early and late. These are places I have always stopped when fishing in a boat. Most of the time I have thrown Chug Bugs on baitcasting equipment, but have also done well with gurglers and STP frogs when I have had a flyrod with me. When I have been fishing from the bank in these areas I have done the best casting parallel to the bank about 5 to 10 feet out. I typically use a white gurgler and strip it back very quickly. Good luck.
