So I am hitting the rock with a buddy tomorrow. Neither one of us are very familiar with the lake. I am taking the little boat since the big boat is over at our river house. It is a 16' 48" jon boat. It doesn't have a depth finder so I could use advice on where to fish and how to find the fish... I love flukes and jerk baits, and top waters are my favorite, so any advice on these and where they are productive would be awesome... I have been on the rock 3 times and all times were kinda crappy days. We are planning to be on the water before 7am if at all possible.

Thanks in advance

If it were me, and I have 2 depth finders but often go out without turning them on...I still have great luck.

I fish dam area mostly, so take it for what it is, but bass are on beds, several are pre-spawning. I would texas rig up some plastic and throw toward bank and fish it back to boat. Or I would throw a smoke grub toward bank, put boat a cast and a half from bank and throw your grub.

I would have a spook tied on at ALL times and would throw around timber and docks.

That is what I would do and I am 99% sure I would catch some, if not several, fish on it. IMHO :)

Suppose to be windy tommorow. I would find a big creek and burn the banks with whatever you want. I might not be much help with catching fish but I would stay away from big water. Flatbottoms + Wind + Mainlake = Dead T-Motor Battery Before Lunch.

Polock,

Fozzy has the right idea, get into some bigger creeks and look for flat secondary points near spawning coves and throw a topwater early then use a fluke if its calm and a jerkbait or grub if its windy. Keep your boat a long cast off the bank and you should have some fun.

Where are you staying? I am going to hate myself for this BUT....with a little boat, Aunt's Creek would be a good place to put in and fish right now. There are quite a few transition banks very very close to the ramp. Look for banks that change from rock to sand basically.

Top water early and maybe all day. Flukes on some trees around the docks just toward the big lake from the ramp or around the areas Mike posted a map to earlier. Aunt's is an easy place to keep out of the wind, but still fish the wind around the points.

Disclaimer: It is my understanding that Aunt's Creek is closed to all except small boats and Skeeters!
