techo Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 We fished the Cops for Kids Charity tournament this morning. As the weatherman predicted, high skies and no wind. I did manage the first odd looking suntan of the year. We caught six fish. One would have been a keeper. One was on top water red fin early. Caught one on a C-rigged fish doctor, one on the Eakins jig and two on the spinner bait. I can't remember what the other was caught on and we did poorly so it wouldn't help much. The water temp was generally around 62 and we stayed in the Aunt's Creek general area for the most part. The fish we caught were in 18 feet of water. Best bag went over 20 pounds and i think one of the Fann brothers had it, but could be wrong. Payouts went down to about 12.5 pounds. Was good seeing some of the regulars. I was lucky enough to see Beck's new Phoenix boat. Nice colors and innovative storage ideas. Good fun day on the water, but maybe not too successful of a tournament day. Tim Carpenter

What lake were you on buddy? It was a tough day for the most part. We had a limit by 10 just couldn't upgrade. Caught fish all day but only 7keepers. Grub for the most part with some split shotting mixed in. Tom Spence Champion Boats http://championboats.com Luck E Strike USA http://martyconradfishing.com

For us, they seemed to be suspended up in the water around and in timber. If we let the grub get too deep then we got moss or goggle eye. If we hadn't been in a tourney we would have brought home a nice mess of goggle eye to fillet! Wouldn't take many of the ones we were catching to make a meal. In fact, if I can get back down in the next few days I'll probably do that. Tom Spence Champion Boats http://championboats.com Luck E Strike USA http://martyconradfishing.com

I've heard members talk about "Red Fins". Where can I get them? Does Bass Pro Shops have them by chance?
T-RockJaws Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I was in BPS last Saturday and there wasn't a Red Fin to be found... That was okay since it wasn't really what I was in there to get. Maybe they have gotten re-stocked by now?

Maybe they have gotten re-stocked by now? The one in St. Charles didn't have many of the jointed one's available, but plenty of the others. Members timr0123 Posted May 6, 2010 Members Posted May 6, 2010 Found them this morning at Bass Pro in Springfield. They were on a end cap at the end of the crank bait/top water isle. Walked past them half a dozen times, then asked for them and the nice lady said "they are right behing you" Go figure! They only had the shad and chrome colors on the end cap. She said that was due to both of them being the best sellers. I've read that just about everyone changes the rear hook out to a feathered hook and also changes the front hook. What size and color of hooks are they changing them out with? Thanks for all the help.
T-RockJaws Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 You can just about bet the house that any time there are 2 or 3 threads on here talking about a particular bait, BPS will be sold out... Personally, I prefer the spook over the red fin. However, the red fin is much easier to use!
