I am thinking back to 1120ft.

I heard they were gonna drop it 6 feet over the next week and would be generating 18 hours a day. Last time I checked it was about 1123 so that'll put it at 1117. I wonder when the last time it was at 1117 this time of year? We might actually be able to night fish this year. The last few years have sucked at night for me with it being so high. I was glad to hear they're dropping it.

No kidding! This is horrible timing. What are they thinking? Wait a month until the spawn is over!

They are drawing down the lake for the spring season. Should be done May 15th per the plan....but all tha is weather dependent.

On the spawning fish.....I have been reminded over and over....the COE is not in the business of anything fishing related. Hence them not holding to the prescribed DO on some of the tailwaters......diff problem for a diff time.

With all the fry I have seen latley I think the spawn is almost over, the carp are coming in to spawn now and that is usually a sighn the bass are finished.

With the clear water on the North end, most of the beds were 10 or more feet down and the water will drop about 6 inches a day at full generation and the eggs will hatch in about 72 hours and the fry will be on thier own a day after that so all the late spawners should be good.

I take it as all good, Bring the food and fish together and the fishing will get hot. This is the first real drawdown for two years and it has been about two years since I have had 5 after dark.

With all this current, water temp there should be no bad way to fish this weekend there will be a lot of personal best set this next week.

CORPS BEGINS LOWERING BEAVER LAKE

Rogers, Ark.--The Army Corps of Engineers will begin making releases today at Beaver Lake through the hydropower turbines to bring the lake level down to elevation 1,121.4, the top of the conservation pool. The lake is currently at elevation 1,123.4. The high lake levels were caused by repeated rains during the spring.

Owners of docks on Beaver Lake are being advised to move their docks as needed to prevent them from grounding as the lake recedes. Officials also caution anglers downstream from the dam to be extra vigilant because currents will be strong and swift when the larger releases are being made. Officials also advise downstream boat dock owners to ensure their docks are properly secured to withstand high flows.

The lake level will drop between one-forth to one-half foot each day. Hydropower generation releases will average about 18 hours per day and continue until the lake falls to elevation 1121.4 feet. Without additional rainfall, releases will continue until May 14.

Persons interested in Beaver Lake levels can monitor the Little Rock District’s water management Web page or local news outlets that report daily lake levels. Daily lake information can be obtained on the Internet at www.swl.usace.army.mil and click the "Water Management" button.

Thanks for the info. So only a 2' drop. Not too bad, then.
