Hi All,

I'm going muskie fishing at Fellows Lake this weekend... Has anyone been out muskie fishing or heard anything about muskies being caught, etc.

Thanks,

~BILL

Ya know, the good people here on Ozark Anglers wouldn't want you to make a 4 hour drive all the way here, just for the fishing to suck, and then have you blame everyone else for not catching a muskie. If by chance you go to Fellows this weekend, don't catch any muskie, and get stuck pulling in nothing but "gay" bass, don't be a baby about it and blame everyone else.

Muskie are called the "Fish of 10,000 casts" for a reason. They are HARD to catch. Experienced muskie fishermen will fish for hours, days, and MAYBE get one. One cannot randomly show up to a lake for 1 weekend alone and expect to catch muskies.

Do yourself a favor, just GO FISHING! Enjoy yourself. Don't use this site and information as a crutch, and then whine when things don't turn out. THAT'S FISHING. Why don't you just do some basic research on Muskie Fishing in general on google or something and go out there and give it a shot.

PS.. if people are wondering where this is coming from, its a response to Bill's last posing on Muskie Fishing in Pomme de Terre.

Set the hook first, ask questions later...

I have fished Fellows Lake for about 3 years now, and have found even the bass fishing to be spotty at times. I have hooked 1 muskey there which was about 17 inches long and about the size of a hammer handle. Of course I wasn't targeting them, but I don't know if I would travel (I take it from the post above that you are driving a ways) to fellows to target muskey. Good luck to all. Looks like the weekend might be wet.

Oh yeah - Bill is the "gay bass" guy! I forgot. Watch out, or you'll hook into a wacked out walleye. The creepy crappie are getting ready to spawn as well... but we arent looking for those trashy rough fish are we?

I have fished it for 13 year the most of the muskie I've

Caught came from the south side, the three big coves

On the south.

Most while fishing for gay bass on a jig & pig, from 12in to over 40in. Seen a few bigger ones chasing my jig.

A few guys I know troll the grass beds for them.

Main thing is have fun in joy the day and don't kiss any

Gay bass.

Oh man Bill, you are in luck! I hear the muskie are hitting like crazy! The other day this feller told me his secret to his muskie fishin' success. As much as you like to muskie fish, I want to pass his info onto you. Ok, here it goes..... He told me you gotta get down there EARLY!!! Around 2 AM. The big ones only hit that early. Gotta go EARLY! Next thing..... are you paying attention???? By chance there is a full moon, you will need to howl 3 times as loud as you can, then do the crazy chicken dance before making your first cast. I am telling you all this because this feller I talked to swears by it and said this is the only way to catch muskie when fishing for them. Seems silly, but very effective. Ok, now onto your bait selection. Stay away from all those gimmickey plastic baits and frilly things. They will only attract gay bass, and we both know you are after the big momma muskie.....what you need is to get you one of those rubber chickens from the party store, stick a big circle hook on the front end of it and heave it out to the middle. While you are at the party store, get a bag of balloons, these will be used for your bobbers. Again, you must do all of this before the sun comes up. After that, pack it in. Now don't go passing all of these secrets onto all of your muskie fishin buddies. I am telling you this in confidence. I really want you to catch a big muskie, and not be bothered with all of those gay bass that Fellows has in it. Happy fishin!!!!

Now you can blame it all on me instead of all the rest of the OA family when your muskie fishin' trip turns out sour! I don't mind, because if you follow my advice, all of the "gay bass" in the lake will be laughing their tails off and not be a bother to you.......

In reference to Bill's post in Pomme's "muskie fishing"

If you teach your kids to fish, your wife will let you go more often.....

Poor guy (Bill). Dont worry Bill. You will have fun. I was trolling a spinner bait behind my boat last year with my step-dad. My wifes new $150 rod and reel I bought her for her birthday got jerked out by a Muskie. I think it was a muskie. Had to have been. Pulled so hard it broke the rod holder. I dove in and looked for it in a 100 foot radius. I could not find it. HAD TO HAVE BEEN A MUSKIE that took my Wifes rod and reel to the deeper part.

Just fish for those bass and you will catch a Muskie.

I got a question. Do MUSKIE like to eat Blue Gill. Cause if they do, they Blue Gill are spawning in the shallows. We have been catching 4-8 lb cats with them. So if MUSKIES like Blue Gill you may want to work the shallow as well.
