rps Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Can't really review it yet. The dealer is still putting things together. Depending on the arrival of a power extension cord, I may be able to drive it by the weekend. 16'8" boat with 91" beam. 75 hp Etec tiller with Titan Tiller Steer assist. 3 bank Promarine charger. Quillback Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Nice ride! I'm looking a something similar myself, but a little longer, 17 foot and with a console instead of a tiller. I'm looking at Lund, G3 and Alumacraft and possibly a couple of others. Who was the dealer you used for Alumacraft? Did you look at Lund or G3?
rps Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 I used Tracy Marine in Mountain Home. So far they have been very good to work with. It is a multi-generational business that's been there since the 80's. Yes I looked long and hard at both the Lund and the G3. G3 must have hired someone from Lund or Alumacraft because the similarities are there. With Lund you pretty much have to accept a Merc, and be prepared to spend 2-4k more. If I were to decide on a Lund, my first stop would be Cope Marine in Branson. G3 is, of course, a Yamaha. Alumacraft you pick any powerplant you want. The Etec was offering a 5 year warranty special and I kind of like the no scheduled maintenance for 300 hours idea. If you want the Alumacraft with a Yamaha, the Kansas City Cabelas is a good fit. The Merc vs. Yamaha vs. Etec wars light up Walleye Central all the time. I figure this may be the last one so I got what I wanted.
Quillback Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Thanks for the info RPS, it's always hard to make a decision on boats, so many variables to consider.
Zack Hoyt Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Great looking boat. Should get you about anywhere you want and back again. Those Alumacraft bottoms are indestrucatble. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Gilly Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Sweet. We have an Alumacraft and love it. Do those 2 Humminbirds link? That's the next thing I want to do to ours is get rid of the Lowrance on the trolling motor and replace it with another Humminbird so I can link it with my console. I've broken 2 transducers on the trolling motor and if I keep doing that it will get as expensive as a new unit. www.drydock516.com
rps Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Someone told me they link, but I don't know that for a fact. I guess I should have looked into it. As for the transducer breakage, that is the reason I opted for the universal sonar troll motor model.
minnowhooker Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 You'll like your boat. I bought a Dominator last year from Susan at Tracy Marine and love fishing out of it. The double hull from front to back is what sold me. Rides great in rough water and is very stable. Good choice.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
