Dang snakem, sounds like you're really one 'em here recently. And the redfin no less. That redfin bite can be a heartstopper! Exciting stuff. :goodjob: Get some pix if you can.

Just curious about the fish still full of eggs. Is that par for TR SM?

I was wondering the same thing, seems like all of the fish we have been catching lately have been full. even the white bass. This is my first year really fishing table rock, and I figured they would all have been done by now, especially the whites!

On a related science question; if these fish somehow skipped the spawn, what happens to those eggs? Do they release them or do they dissolve somehow? Just curious...

Even after a successful spawn, most species still retain a large ammt of eggs. It is pretty common that people mistake this as the fish having not spawned. Even a good spawner will have a lot of eggs left.

Unexpelled eggs break down and are re-absorbed by the fish over the summer. They turn bloody and orange and into a "mush" that shrinks down over time.

I am curious, what is a "SJ"? I have read this on some other posts, but just cant figure out what the acronym stands for. I assume, that it is some form of bass being that it was a nice one at 4.5lbs. Please explain?

Also, i was thinking about the "pig" being full of eggs. Before I read that, I assumed that since it was caught on a Redfin that it was full of SHAD. I have not seen any fish lately that have been "full of eggs", but lots of fish that are full of shad and crawdads. Seems the more obvious answer to a "pig".

Thanks.

SJ stands for Small Jaw or Smallmouth Bass. A pig is just a way of saying it's a BIG fish...
