Members mobowhunter Posted June 9, 2006 Members Posted June 9, 2006 Does anyone fihs Northfork tailwater. Headed over there tomorrow evening for the weekend. I have been told it is great trout water.
Snow Fly Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Yes! It is a great place to catch Cuts,Bows,Browns & brooks what else could you ask for? Probably one of, if not, the best trout fishing in the state of Ark. Noticed they have been running a little more water than they have been in other tail waters in the White River system. Enjoy! Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 9, 2006 Root Admin Posted June 9, 2006 A friend fished it the other day- water running- out of a boat and threw white jigs and tore them up. 1/16th oz- worked them slow in the holes.
Members mobowhunter Posted June 9, 2006 Author Members Posted June 9, 2006 Thanks guy's. We are taking a small motor so we can rent a boat if need be. I'm realy looking forward to the trip.
John Berry Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 The Norfork River is the best trout stream in Arkansas! That said, it is a bit tougher to fish. The fish seem to be a bit smarter and the fishing pressure is generally greater. Take more care with your presentation and be advised that the insects run a bit smaller. If you regularly fish size sixteen zebra midges go to size twenty twos here. Use six X or smaller tippet. Be sure and take a camera. This is where I consistently catch my big fish! Members Watcher Posted June 9, 2006 Members Posted June 9, 2006 We went to the tail waters yesterday and my buddy caught a 7.6lb rainbow on a white / Chartreuse Trout Magnet Jig. Both of had our limit in about 2 hour's. We were fishing the Trout Magnets with a float about 36" deep.
Members mobowhunter Posted June 9, 2006 Author Members Posted June 9, 2006 Camera is packed, and thanks for the info on fly sizes. We should be leaving Branson about 5. Have a camp site at Dam Quary area. Should be a great weekend to fish.
Members mobowhunter Posted June 13, 2006 Author Members Posted June 13, 2006 Had a great time on Northfork last weekend. Some of the best loking trout water I have ever seen. Started in the trophy area, caught several including my first Brook Trout. Saturday afternoon fished around the dam area, they must have stocked it hevily for the kids fishing durby. My buddy and I must have caught 30-35 each before they started running water about 3pm. It may be a while but I am already looking forward to going back.
