I know a lot of people out there don't care about soccer and think it's boring, but who's watching this year and what are your predictions? Will the USA take England to school or will they get crushed? Any smart arse comments on soccer will be ignored also. :bringitout:

I'm a soccer nut, and my wife is from England. June 12 was supposed to be the best day ever. Fly to Denver, watch the game, and then go to the U2 show. Alas Bono broke his back and cancelled the tour. Either way, England is missing Rio Ferdinand, and Rooney is borderline unfit, so hopefully we'll pull it off.

I may be divorced by June 13 if the US wins!

After watching USA play Aussie I would say we looked kinda good, but then again I am still scared for our backline. We played good counter attacks, but that don't cut it all the time!

Hey jonboy, you live in Godfrey? I use to live there back in the early 90's. Fond memories of that place. Nice little town on the outskirts of everything. I use to work over at Alton Mall. Use to go over to that bar in town that holds a "fest". Can't remember the name. Anyways, I would like for the USA to advance out of group stage as well. We do hold the talent to do so, but we are not consistent enough to go all the way IMO. It will happen eventually, just don't know when. If we play smart we can win, but sometimes I just don't know...............Wicks, I knew I would remember!

Well, I must admit that was a little shocking to see Mexico tie SA. I know Mexico doesn't have the greatest side, but I thought they should have handled the SA team a little better then they did. Looks like they were lucky to escape with a point in that match.

Sorry about getting to this so late. I love soccer and grew up playing it. Todays game was one of those games I'll tell my kids about. My house nearly exploded when Donovan scored in the 92' minute. The World Cup is awesome to go to. I went in 94' and although I was only 9 I can still remember alot of what happened.

Ollie, I think alot of Americans see soccer as boring because they didn't grow up with it, the US is not dominant in this sport and the MLS, while fun and improving, is not a top-notch league.

That was truely an awesome goal at the right time! I was about to sulk at work until that happened. Give the sport a few more years when the younger people grow up and it will be more popular. My generation is stuck with only a few sports that are ingrained upon our minds. Not me, I played in HS and college and love it! We can deal with Ghana on Saturday if we play like we have. Let's hope that side of the team shows up. They have been hit and miss until yesterday. Agreed the MLS is not top-notch, but it is getting better. Look at the exhibition matches we are having with overseas teams, we are not getting blown out and sometimes we look pretty good! Go USA!!!

i grew up playing soccer in st.louis and as far as i can remember soccer has been pretty big here. allot of good players have come out of st.louis. I mean every grade school, middle school, high school, and college has a team not to mention all of the select teams, recreational teams, summer leages, indoor leages, and camps. The USA has amazing potential to produce great players especiially now that popularity in the sport is growing. The USA national team has been looking very good considering we had two perfectly good goals taken back. I think we can beat england but we have to beat Ghana first.Altidore,Donovan, and Tim Howard are beasts .just my 2cents.

I love St. Louis soccer! Go SLU! You are right, they have churned out a lot of good players. The first one I can remember was Steve Tritchu (sp). Of course there have been numerous others since then. On any given day we can beat the best in the world as we have shown last year at the confederations cup. They do have the talent, but just don't seem consistent enough to get the job done. I'm still rooting for them however!
