I'm fairly certain the wooly worm/spinner combo is legit in the fly only section, as are the single-point roostertails. Jigs though would certainly be legal, and a good selection of those will likely catch some fish. There's a ton of different recommendations out there, I've always done well with white, black, black/yellow, ginger, and olive. <{{{><
trizkid Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 thanks ya i have some single point roosters and some white olive and brown jigs....also picked up a couple small rapalas today....so the treble hooks on the rapalas are ok? or should i replace with two single point hooks or one?... TrIzzout

You'll have to replace the trebles on the rapalas with one single-point hook. <{{{><
eric1978 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I'm not so sure you can use the Rapalas in the flies only section even if you replace the trebles with one single. The regs book explicitly okays "rooster tails," but makes no mention of other lures...if I remember correctly. You may want to ask at the office first.
Kayser Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Rooster tails and fly-spinners are OK, but rapalas and spoons are not. Need single point hooks in the fly zone. He can also fish flies under a indicator with the spinning gear, just a little harder to cast. Good way to nymph without mending being much of a problem. Outside of the park, Lures and trebles are OK, but no soft plastic or live bait. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
trizkid Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 thanks guys for the info..ill make sure if he does use a rapela it is outside the park....and i planned on letting him through some nymphs if my buddies and i figure something out thats working well. ..well we r leaving around 5am in the morning ...ill be back thursday and let u guys know how it went...i hope all goes well TrIzzout
3wt Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I hope he got the recommendation about black/yellow maribou jigs. Probably the #1 of all fish catchers in the fly only area. Definitely no to rapalas. Try them in the anything goes area though. Definietly yes to wooly spinners. They call them the Montauk Special down there. Whatever makes them feel special I guess.
