minnowhooker Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Need help, Can you download MDC brushpile lat-longs off their website to a SD card and then transfer to a Hummingbird 788ci? I downloaded to SD card and could not get anything to work. Maybe you can't do this?
Members jbeenemd Posted July 10, 2010 Members Posted July 10, 2010 You can do this. I don't know what format the download was in or what format the Hummingbirds use. There are some programs to change formats. I was going to try this with my Lawrance unit. I could not figure it out, got frustrated and just went out to the boat and manually put in the brush pile locations at Stockton. I recently decided to put in the locations for Table Rock and OMG there were 700 to 800 waypoints. I am not about to try and breakdown all the different waypoints and will have to learn how to do this also. Which Hummingbird unit do you have? Jackie
Dutch Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Guys go to Easy gps or GPS Babel. They are free downloads and can convert waypoints for you. If for some reason they won't do the UTMs let me know and I may be able to get you an excell file that will do it. I have used all three at different times and found for me that Easy gps is (easiest).
Members jbeenemd Posted July 11, 2010 Members Posted July 11, 2010 I just took a look at all the Fish Attractor Coordinates from the Missouri Dept of Conservation and they are all in the correct format for your Hummingbird. Download the file from http://newmdcgis.mdc.mo.gov/statewidefishattractors/fishattractorgpx.htm and unzip the file. Copy the .gpx file to your SD card. Put the SD card in your Hummingbird and can import the .gpx file to your Hummingbird. I can't tell you any specifics on how to do this part but you should be able to figure it out or go to your manual or the Hummingbird website. Jackie
DChance Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I actually just did this today to my 798c. very easy using the Humminbird PC program that is free from the HB website as long as you registered your unit. Here is a link to a PDF with all the instructions you need. http://www.dougvahrenberg.com/files/Humminbird_How_To_s_for_Customers2.pdf
