straw hat Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I need you guys to help settle a difference of opinion between my brother and myself. The question is; You are fishing a calm day (no particular time of year) and catching crappie. A 10 to 15 mile per hour wind comes up. Normally do the crappie go deeper or shallower? We have agreed that whatever you guys say will decide which one of us is right. After 48 hours I will total the results and let you know whether I won or lost. Thanks for the help.
Predator1 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I would think shallower cause wind drives bait into the shallows and banks..FISH FOLLOW BAIT....ALSO THEY DON'T SEE US AS WELL I Know I can't see under the wavy ripples as good as calmer water. Although, Trying to figure out exactly what a fish will do is like trying to figure out a woman. You will never get it 100%right...BUT I LIKE A CHALLENGE. And is long as I am having fun. I am fine. So how much money did ya bet.
Members Carp E Diem Posted June 16, 2010 Members Posted June 16, 2010 I'm gonna have to say shallower also, refracting light from the waves gives the predator an advantage on the bait fish. Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.
Members trambia Posted June 16, 2010 Members Posted June 16, 2010 i would say shallower also. oh and carp e diem your avatar is hilarius made my morning lol
loo10 Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Shallower. Same as when the water muddies up. Less visability (with waves) means braver, SHALLOWER fish. binman Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 I dis agree I have fished calm days and wind pick up on me in several crappie tournaments and was still catching fish all day in the same spot so I am not sure about the shallow part but the wind should not make a difference if your fishing brush or timber now in open water or some thing like that I guess but I personally crappie fish a lot and my fish do not ever move due to wind whether I am in open water or not.
