Can Alternate Energy Power Europe By 2050?

Yes says a study conducted by the Germany Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation & Nuclear Safety. According to reports published by them the right combination of the locally available renewable energy resources, along with imports of solar energy from Middle East & North Africa, will be able to power Europe by 2050.

The studies conducted by ‘Trans- Mediterranean Interconnection for Concentrating Solar Power’ analyzed almost 30 European countries, and could find a connection between the electric grids of Europe, Middle East & North Africa.

The study report says that a right combination of renewable energy resources, along with the support of fossil fuels, will be able to provide electricity for Europe by 2050.

On-going researches are bringing out similar solutions to defend global warming and climatic changes that affect humanity. Many energy research firms are conducting studies on renewable energy options to replace fossil fuels. Energy research is often related to the development and proper exploitation of both traditional and newly found energy resources. It also includes energy conservation and management.

The energy research companies closely follow energy market trends and world energy needs to find out solutions to solve world’s energy problems. One among such energy research companies is World Energy Research , based in New Zealand. Such firms focus their attention on the major issues arising in energy resource usage, and utilize their research to find out better energy resources. So let’s hope that the ongoing researches would bring similar solutions to solve the energy problems of other areas too.

Why ... same reason it is hitting a brick wall here in the good ole USA. No huge profits in it and it will displace the huge profit fossil fuels.

I had to chuckle but refrained to comment on the ethanol experts voicing their opinions (facts?) yea right.

I have used E85 in my Tahoe for over 6 months keeping track of mileage against cost. The last fill up on tuesday this week was 2.11/gallon. 45 cents below the filling station across the street. The engine runs / starts better with it and I can not tell any lack of performance. 2 to 3 miles less a gallon.

It works for me.

It is those huge profit fossil fuels that are actually lobbying congress with their huge profits that keep us from developing alternative fuels.

Once there is no more coal, oil etc, alternative fuels may become the "huge profit" fuels. There are jobs to be created making fuel cells, whether they be solar, wind, hydrogen...

We just need to change the attitude of the people and we will see less burning of fossil fuels and eventually a cleaner, greener planet.

But your Tahoe was designed from the start for E85. Older gas consumers are not equipped to handle the ethanol and it eats out the seals of the fuel system. Same goes for boats, lawn equipment, etc. They are actually less fuel efficient using ethanol gas mixtures. In order to switch over to E85, the engine and system has to be designed to use it. We were forced into the ethanol mixture in regular gas by the last governor.

Bio diesel is different, I have not heard of many adverse effects with its use.

The arguments against ethanol seem awfully similar to the arguments made against switching to unleaded gas. I don't remember that switch being the downfall of humanity, and I doubt this switch (if ethanol proves viable), will be, either. The technology will be adapted to meet the needs of consumers, just as before.

I'm not totally sold on ethanol either, there glaring environmental issues which haven't been resolved. But I also know that extracting more fossil fuels isn't the way out of the whole we've collectively dug.
