flytyer57
I check the gauges for the Buffalo River and Crooked Creek quite regularly. There is one gauge in particular that I'm interested in here. That is the temperature gauge at Harriet on the Buffalo. It has been getting as high as 32 degrees C. That comes out to be about 89.6 degrees F. Now here's my question. Is that gauge out of the water or in some slow pool or is the water really that warm? I went wading in Crooked Creek last Monday, and yes the water was quite warm there, but not no 89 degrees. The Buffalo is a bigger river so I figure it might be a tad cooler than the creek. Does anyone have an answer for this gauge reading????? There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
gotmuddy
likely it is in the sun. I know the gauge at the slab is in the sun. What surprises me is the wild swings from day to night. I bet night fishing on the river is awesome. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
