Members Bad cast Posted June 24, 2010 Members Posted June 24, 2010 I tied some 1/32 jigs with no 6 hooks but they were to light in the faster flows a few weeks ago. I want to tie some 1/16 and 1/8 oz, what size hook should I use for those. Randy
Members bigdub Posted June 24, 2010 Members Posted June 24, 2010 The 1/8th oz is what I prefer, helps ensure the jig gets down on the bottom in the faster water, which is the most critical aspect of jig fishing most of the time. Good Luck!! A fool with a plan is always better than a genius with NO PLAN!!!!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 24, 2010 Root Admin Posted June 24, 2010 Use #4 for the 1/16th oz and #2 for the 1/8th oz.
Members bigdub Posted June 24, 2010 Members Posted June 24, 2010 OK, so maybe I need to stop getting on here so early in the morning before my coffee. I answered a question no one asked, my appologies!! A fool with a plan is always better than a genius with NO PLAN!!!!
fly2fish Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 For jig fishing at night with the water running, I just buy the unpainted 1/8th oz. jig heads with the gold or dark grey wire hooks, they will straighten a little when you get hung up without breaking off if you have at least 6lb line. I found that once you are finished tying take a small file and make flat shiny places for eyes on the sides. At night this adds some flash to the jig. F2F
