Where To Launch? What Are They Biting?

Just looking for some last minute info. Has anyone been on the river lately? I am hoping a little rain might let us start farther up than Woolum. If you have any opinion on where to start or even more importantly, what to fish with, I would love to hear it. Thanks!

Right now, at 112 cfs on the St. Joe gauge, you're really pretty marginal for going above Woolum. Unless the river gets a rise between now and when you float, I wouldn't plan on going above the access between Woolum and Hwy. 65 unless you want to do a lot of dragging.

One note, however...if you are willing to do a lot of work in order to have solitude and an excellent possibility of good fishing, it's often a good idea to "float" those very low sections. The wild cards on the Buffalo are the losing stretch from just below Woolum to Margaret White Spring...I think I mentioned in the other thread that there is a stretch through there that can go nearly dry. And the canoe rentals probably won't rent you a canoe when the river is too low for good floating, since they don't want their canoe bottoms scraped up any more than necessary.

you can still put in at pruitt but it's low and yes you have to get out at least two times. and come out at woolum ,or bakers ford. or for that matter tyler bend.14 hours of daylite..... buffalo river canoes, just shut down last sunday. due to low water conditions so hope that helps you?
