Members johnnymiller Posted June 28, 2010 Members Posted June 28, 2010 Ok here's my question. Can you drift flies below fall creek with any success and if so do you do different than up by the dam area? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
perchjerker Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Ive had sucess fishing from just below Fall Creek to Short Creek.Stay on the deep side and use an adjustable strike indicator because the depth changes a lot.We will fish from 4 to 9ft. using a grey #14 or #16 scud with a smaller little brassy as a dropper. Hang close to the bank and work the shade, falldowns and large rocks. We have also gone down to Monkey Island and used a variety of scuds, ugly midges, san juan worms, and even 100th ounce jigs fishing about 4 ft. deep.they are smaller down there but at times the action is rapid to say the least. Our last stop would be the down lake side of the old coffer wall of rock that is out from the city campground or the deep side across from Lilley's Landing using all the above flies. Good luck be gentle when releasing fish and eat more chicken.
Seth Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 When I was down there a few weekends ago, the fish up above Short Creek seemed to be hanging in the shallower water on the south side of the river. They were easy to find because they were so thick. 6-8' of water seemed to be the depth they were holding. Drifting a #16 grey scud right on the bottom drew plenty of strikes.
