Members Keith Hatter Posted July 1, 2010 Members Posted July 1, 2010 I am headed out sat. morning in search of crappie or catfish. I will be in the glaze area. I was wondering if you guys could help me pin down a nice mess of fish. Thanks for your help in advance.
David Unnerstall Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 In the Missouri Conservationist magazine a few months ago was an article on downloading GPS coordinates of crappie beds into a GPS. You might not catch fish but you, at least, have a plan. If you don't catch fish then you know not to do that, again. I managed to download the spots into my GPS but have yet to get the opportunity to try it out -- dad-burnit!
Members FishinJack Posted July 1, 2010 Members Posted July 1, 2010 Sorry for the bad news but alot of short crappies in the lake this year. Two great spawns the last couple of years means by next year we will be catching lots of good keepers again. But this year sucks. You can still catch some good fish scattered around brush. Up the rivers you can get into some differant populations of crappie and do better than the main lake. On the otherhand the catfishing has been great!! Three limits of blue cats this morning on a half day guide trip. No giants this morning, but earlier this week a boy caught a 25lber. Last week we had a 43lber! All trolled with rod and reel. Lots of good fish for the frying pan. Jack's Guide Service www.FishingLakeoftheOzarks.com
Members Keith Hatter Posted July 2, 2010 Author Members Posted July 2, 2010 Thanks guys for the heads up. Last time (Father's Day) I was out there, I bass fished and had great luck. I actually caught my first catfish on a wiggle wart. That was surprising and exciting at the same time. I thought I had a rather heavy bass on, and, whadda ya know. LOL I think I will go and try to see how many cats I can get. Any advice on bait?
Members GoBigRed Posted July 2, 2010 Members Posted July 2, 2010 Havent tried for cats this summer yet. But last year around this time we had good luck with just live bluegill. Caught several 10+ lb flatheads. We were using the biggest blue gill we could catch too, biggest cat was around 16 lbs.
