Zach Bearden Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Chance, you really are having some trouble with those guys aren't you? It's totally obvious what you have to do to catch them. First things first, get a 16wt rig and a huge fly. I'm talking like 10" long and moves like crazy in the water. Then, right before you start striper fishing for the day you have to stand on one leg on the bank hop like a jackrabbit, run to Gore and back like an armadillo, and do 36 spins all while singing Elton John's "Rocket Man". Then just cast out there and let the current do all the work. Oh, and a Di10 line "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Members swellcat Posted July 12, 2010 Members Posted July 12, 2010 I wish you luck in chasing them. I got POed and finally gave it up after chasing them for several weeks. I threw every fly in the box at them, even tied up new patterns, fast retrieve, slow retrieve, floating line, sinking line...etc etc etc etc.... NOTHING! That's too bad. Challenging is one thing; near impossible, another. I have a small pile of large rainbowish trout streamers that may not see much use.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I just really believe they are feeding at night...thats the only explaination I have for those fish. Which still puzzles me because the stripers that spawn upriver in the Arkansas still were feeding during the day. I don't know...I just quit. I have a new addiction....chasing smallmouth on the fly rod. Freaking sweet.... Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
