Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 10, 2010 Root Admin Posted July 10, 2010 Went jig fishing this afternoon. Generation was perfect - kinda - they kept speedin' up and slowin' in down the whole time I was out there (1-4 pm). But the fish seemed not to mind. Started at the dam - cable - tried a white 1/8th oz and caught a few nice rainbows. Then switched to sculpin and never looked back. Probably caught 15 mainly up from the boat ramp. Then headed down where Linc was fly fishing at Lookout Island. He was wading on the lower/outside and catching quite a few rainbows on a midge/scud combo. I left him and drifted down the bluff bank but didn't do that well. Was heading in when I saw Jeff Alley fishing at Short Creek so stopped to see how he was doing. Ended up drifting down to the old Sun Valley Resort, bouncing back and forth between banks fishing my sculpin jig. They liked it too- boated may be 20 rainbows up to 15 inches. Had to get it close to the bottom.
Gatorjet Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Phil, how is fishing down lake from your place? Cooper Creek area, Monkey Island, The Landing? I'll be down in a couple weeks with my daughter and her Bo. Thought I would take them somewhere that isn't as crowded as Short Creek. I am going to take him up to Lookout, but when my daughter goes with us I want to just let her drown some crawlers or Power Bait. Real men go propless!
Members bigdub Posted July 12, 2010 Members Posted July 12, 2010 Hey Gator, the fishng around Monkey was pretty good last weekend. My dad and I were out Friday and Saturday and did pretty well, ALOT of numbers. Dad caught one decent brown right at the point of the island, the fish seemed to be a little deeper and we missed alot of fish hitting short on the jigs. Sculpin and green/olive were the ticket. White was really inconsistent, but better fish. Went down past the Landing and it was great, which was suprising because the water temps were over 60, but they did want the jig dead on the bottom. Have a good day!! A fool with a plan is always better than a genius with NO PLAN!!!!
Gatorjet Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Thanks Dub, you guys gonna fish the Guns & Hoses Tournament out of Lilley's Aug 21? If so, see ya there, Nick and I are already signed up. Real men go propless!
Members bigdub Posted July 12, 2010 Members Posted July 12, 2010 Yeah, were in, should be nice and HOT!!! There shouldn't be ANY fish around Monkey in August anyway LOL!! See ya there! A fool with a plan is always better than a genius with NO PLAN!!!!

You all most threw the wife out of the boat not to mention the damage to docked boats. Thanks! Read the posts on the thread Boating Courtesy...My dilemma. A lot of talk about what is the safest way to pass a bunch of boats anchored or drifting in the channel. True, there are some with the bigger boats that don't seem to care, but most do try their best not to cause problems. With no current, even though low speed maneuverability is difficult and limited for me I can try. With current from the generators if I try to just ease upstream, my stern plows so deep I throw a wake like a Lake of the Ozarks cruiser! Real men go propless!
kwall Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I seen all kinds running up with noses high in the air at a fast troll. Not only can't they see but it's foggy to boot.Come on guys you know how to IDLE so what if it takes you an hour or two to get where your going ,isn't the lake a butte to enjoy.
