Put in at CC at 8 AM. The water continues to be a very dark green with a surface temp of 85F. The water gave off a strong "algae smell" as we motored along. We fish 4 or 5 points on and near Shaw's Bluff with little success. The few crappie we did catch (15 fow) also has a strong algae smell. We decided to try shallower incase the algae bloom had lowered the oxygen level. The first brush pile we tried was about 7 to 10' deep. We caught around 60 crappie there. Only 8 keepers but they were nice ones. Ran out of minnows but on the way back to the ramp we stopped at a couple of other shallow brush piles on points and fished with some red/chart jigs and found more fish on each of these spots. Also picked up one walleye on the jigs. A lot of people were out but all were good considerate people, even the water skiers tried to stay away from the fisherman. All in all a good day on the lake.

"A lot of people were out but all were good considerate people, even the water skiers tried to stay away from the fisherman."?!?!? Not at all my experience on the lake today. I put in at Mutton Creek about 5:30 or so and motored around to my favorite cove across from Ruark Bluff. I stopped before the cove right at the edge of the big flat there because the bass were boiling the water feeding on the tiny shad there. All you had to do was cast in to the commotion and pull out a bass. Then came the tournament boats...about a dozen or so came by me wide open throttle and at least half of them close enough for me to hit with a lure. They scattered the shad and the bass and my day was done. I stayed there hoping they would return, but I lacked the skill to find them. I did notice another boat show up later in the morning that fished the end of that flat all day and seemed to be doing well, but boats were buzzing him all day long. I finally gave up and moved into a cove where I still didn't catch anything, but at least I wasn't cussing the rude and inconsiderate boaters any more.

On a side note I did notice that a wrapped boat(I'm guessing a pro series fisherman) coming back later that day that did take a wide birth to us on the flat and went down the middle of the lake as he went by, but he was one of the very few. My hats off to him.

New to this site . Don't normally join forums , but I have been getting alot of good info from this site for quite awile now . Thought I should start putting in my 2 cents ,and helpful information . fished yesterday till noon. Fished brush piles (little green signs ) just north of mutton creek . 22 - 24 ft of water caught 36 keeper crappie(3 guys in boat ) lots of shorts . Was good til ski boats started rocking da boat . Fish didn't like bait getting pulled up and down 2 ft at a time . So they quit us . You would expect some waves on sat. if your at the mouth of the coves , but one ski boat passed close enough to throw a wake over the stern of my boat . That ain't acceptable to me . Hope my report helps someone as ya'll have helped me find them when i didn't have a clue .

Welcome to the site jighead. I look forward to your fishing reports and the new wisdom you can share with all of us. May all your trips be great ones.

Don't fish Stockton (understand it's a great lake) but wanted to thank you for the reports and tell you how lucky you are to be there instead of Lake of the Ozarks or even Table Rock on some days. I have become convinced most people are not inconsiderate or malicious. Instead they are thoughtless - as in not a clue. If I thought it were intentional, I might have to hunt them down and change their minds.

With the overwhelming ignorant boating captains on the lake these days, I am thinking about changing my screen name to SINKER. I have had a couple of close calls lately and wished I could sink them with my little 14' Flat Bottom. Some People just don't understand ethical Boating.

I thank GOD every time I make it out alive with some fish or no fish. As long as there is fish, I will keep fishing. I will buy a wider boat though.

Good Luck guys. Just had to put my 2 cents in.

I think your right, the wife and I almost got threw out of the boat last weekend on upper Tanycomo and he either didn't have a clue or didn't care (White Mako Guide boat). when we got back to the dock the guy that owns the place was ticked off at him also. the waves were banging his investment of boats, dock and guests around. Stockton is a very nice lake and most of the folk are also, you should try it
