woodman Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 With old linkage and parts from jet ski cable the tilting of the motor in shallow water won't bind the steering. The wood dowel setup needs improvement...but it works. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
gotmuddy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 thats awesome. really good idea. How do you fasten the battery down? everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
woodman Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 Here are some more pics. I ran 2 lines, one to release the catch and another (with foot pedal)to raise the motor for shallow water. The battery I just tie off to the center rail support. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
woodman Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 Here is the seat in place.... and shade for the dog. +--Pics. of the canoe 2 yrs ago... http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
woodman Posted July 18, 2010 Author Posted July 18, 2010 Got rid of the blocks of wood and redid the steering mechanism. The steel shaft with the bar welded to it was scabaged from an old riding mower. The aluminum block clamped between the two angle pcs. has needle bearings in it. I got that at a go-cart shop back in 06 when I was working on my jet=ski powered TNT(Glen-L boats). The pcs. slid over the 5/8 shaft I still need to get milled down to 1 1/8'' typical of Minn Kota motors. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
