Quillback Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Caught this guy on Lake Windsor here in Bella Vista today, it inhaled a 7/16 ounce jig. I think it's just a dark colored green sunfish, or maybe a goggle eye? Pictures didn't come out as clear as I wanted.
Geoff Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Definitly lots of google-eye in there, dont think its 100% though. Might have some green sunfish mixed in. However it COULD be a warmouth. Been a while since i've seen one though, dont reemember them being that green though "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
Kayser Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Warmouth! Also known as black perch, I think. Last one I caught was about 3 years ago on a Zoom Fluke at LOZ, he hit it on the bottom during some, uh, technical difficulties. But I absolutely love them, wish they were more common. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Al Agnew Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Yep, a warmouth. I caught one the other day on Big River. They are widespread but seldom common anywhere in this region. By the way, around here we call green sunfish "black perch". Longears are "sun perch". Don't have a name for warmouth because they aren't commonly caught, I guess.
Quillback Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 Cool, thanks for the I.D. First one I have ever caught (I think).
