Flyflinger Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Should I take hwy 19 south from Cuba, or should I go to Rolla first then south? There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit
Gene K Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Should I take hwy 19 south from Cuba, or should I go to Rolla first then south? Neither. Take 68 at St. James to 19 to Salem and then west on 32 to 119 to the park (map link) Or... Take 68 at St. James to 19 (through Salem) to K to E to YY and in the back door to the Park.
Kayser Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I take 63 South from Rolla to Licking, and then cut over from Licking. 63 is a great road down to Licking, and it saves some time, along with being a much easier drive. I would just take exit 185 (circle drive thing) to avoid 3 or 4 stoplights on 63 in Rolla. Would NOT take this exit if towing a camper. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
stlfisher Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I too take 63 south from Rolla and then cut over at licking. Just don't speed on 63 going through Rolla.
Gavin Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Take 68 at St. James to 19 (through Salem) to K to E to YY and in the back door to the Park. Thats the way I usually go too, but I take 63 down to Licking when we are towing the camper. Dont speed near Edgar Springs on 63 either. Cheers.
Members lizard Posted July 23, 2010 Members Posted July 23, 2010 Rolla is 10 - 15 min. faster but 19 is not as boring a drive
Gene K Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Rolla is 10 - 15 min. faster but 19 is not as boring a drive I drive this almost every weekend of the year. If I want to arrive 20 minutes later, I would take the Rolla route. 68 > 19 that is.
Gavin Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I agree with Gene...heading down 63 adds extra time to your drive...so does the stretch of 19 between Cuba & Salem. Cheers.
3wt Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I usually go the Rolla route, but just because that's what I'm used to. 63 is a fairly straight highway and you can fly once you get out of Rolla. I've always heard that Edgar Springs is a speed trap, but honestly I don't think they even have the funds to have a cop these days. It is annoying to drop 20 mph for such a non-city.
ozark trout fisher Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I generally go the Rolla route, but that's just because I like to stop to fish Little Piney for an hour or so sometimes before heading down to the Current. Gene K's route will probably get you there quicker and it's more scenic.
