fishinSWMO Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Thanks Chief! What can I say, if you get the chance to go fishing with Chief you better take it. We started about 8am this morning after some last minute decision on where we would float. We hit a remote stretch of Spring river and never looked back. Chief started nailing them on a chrome colored old plug of his, so I had to start digging in my box to find a comparable weapon to use. Then we both started boating a lot of fish, nice fish. Colors changed and Chief had to do some digging. Then we played with some variations of soft plastics and jig heads and caught even more fish. Here are a few pics of todays action. Jeremy Dodson
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 It was all my pleasure. It was such a great day. I am so glad that I did change my mind and go to a different river. We will have to hit this one again. The great thing is, I know some other spots that will produce like this. And we will hit them. Buzz Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Nice fish guys. Anyone would be happy with a day like that. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
eric1978 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Looks like you guys tore 'em up! That water had some color to it...is that normal for that stream?
Wheatenheimer Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Awesome report! Looks like a great day! Thanks for sharing.
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Yeah eric it does have a little color to it. A good color. Some of the larger, for the area, rivers do have some color due to the fact that they run more on the edge of the Ozarks and pick up lots of nutrients and such along the way. Also there is a lot of mud banks like associated with prairie type streams even though they are also full of gravel like those of the deeper Ozarks. That is one reason I really like fishing these streams on the edge. We have the great water of a Ozark stream but with a lower gradient. That provides the great pools and pockest of water that produce really nice bass. I would really like for you to make a trip over here someday. I think you may really like it. I hope to and plan to, as long as I don't have to share a canoe with Wheat.
KCRIVERRAT Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Jeremy... I was at Chief's house when he got home from your trip. He just shook his head in amazement at the day you guys had. Glad you two had a super trip. Lookin' forward to fishing with ya again! I have to ask... he didn't yell at you too much did he? HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Trav Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I sure do miss those river floats. It really started to get inconvenient for me to get transportation back to where we put in. Kind of slacked on the stream fishing. It does sound like the best bites in this heat are those spring fed streams...... "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
