ollie Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Went out yesterday morning for a short wade fishing trip on a local creek not far from the house. Normally I would bring the yak, but not this time I knew the stream was down in water level so I opted for just getting wet. Now last week I fished this same stretch and did alright so I figured what the heck lets do it again. Fishing started out slow until I figured out what was needed for the job to get done! Went to a small green colored curly tailed grub and then things started to happen. Didn't catch any big ones, but lots of dinks around the 10" range. Enough to keep me walking upstream to the point I wanted to be at. The sweet victory came for me when I got my Zara spook back out of a tree I put it in last week! Glad no one had noticed it and I thought I had a chance of getting it back so I went for it. The weird thing that happened to me was getting into a bunch of leeches! I had to stop every once in awhile to empty out the rocks in my shoes that's when I noticed one of the slimy creatures on the side of my foot. Not a very big one, only about a centimeter long. Then I started looking at my feet more carefully and found about a half dozen or so inbetween my toes! ewwww! They were sucking blood and hard to get off, but not that hard. I must have walked through some leaves or twigs at some point that's all I can figure out. All in all it was a decent day to be fishing, but I don't think I will wade that section again. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Buzz Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Yeah, Chief and I got into a few leeches a couple of weekends back. They are some nasty little critters. I don't think I'll wade that stretch for a while. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
