Hello this is a computer generated message the number of units is 0 is that a great thing to here or what. I took my daughter to the Cardinals game last night so I did not start till late. I saw the sun come up over the lake what a sight. The fishing statrted out slow and few and far between strikes but it could have been the size of fly I was using a #2 zonker that is red and black. I started down by the point not really much going on then I decide that it was time to put the new john boat in that was the ticket.

I started down by PR and fished down to the mouth of Fall creek It was awesome and I mean AWESOME I had several fish that were in the 16-18" range. The red and black zonker and my pine squirrel sculpin was the ticket. I would have to say that from the time I put the boat in to the time I quit I caught 45-50 fish I put the john boat in at 1:30 and fished untill 4:30-5:00

what a great night. I have been wanting to get a boat from Phil and do this because I knew that it would be great when I did it. Since Phil and I couldn't ever get togthere I bought one So if any one ever want's to get out on Taney after dark on a boat let me know.I would love the company. I need to get the store open and running for the day I hope that everyone has a good weekend and they catch a lot of fish.

When you came down the lake from Lookout, did you fish the bank? Middle? Shallow side? How deep do you think you were getting down?

Last night was unique in that there was no fog. Most summer nights the fog is so thick you can get turned around on the lake in the dark and literally get lost. Plus if you're fishing the bank, it's difficult to know exactly where your fly- or lure- is landing unless there no splash... then you're in trouble.

Thanks for the report.

Phil,

I was fishing the south bank and was trying to fish shallow to mod deep. I was using an intrmediate tip from RIO they call it the streamer tip and it seemed to be the ticket. I tryed a floating line and was getting nothing when I put the intrmideate tip on thats when it truned on. That is a pretty big streamer that I was using and weighted real heavy. I would have to say that I was catching fish any where from 1-7' of water. great night any time you want to go out at night with a boat I will take you I love fishing that way. When I was in my younger years that is how my dad and I would fish and it was great, glad that I can again fish that way. The nights with the fog are better for fishing you just have to take it slow and know your bearings or you will get lost not fun. Big lights that will punch through the fog are very helpfull if you do get turned around. I have a Sure Fire 500 lumen power which is great and I keep a 2 million candle power spot light in the boat.

Does your jon boat have lights?

I have run my bigger boat up there at night many, many times

and never thought of a jon boat floating up there in the dark.

I think regulations are that your boats must have running lights.

Don't worry about that when I turn the switch on the control panel on I look like a christmas tree HA/Ha. I would never go out on the water in a boat at night with out lights. Thanks for the thought thogh glad to know someone out there cares.

Lights- yes- but mine hardly ever work. They do right now at least since I've been running back to the resort from the lower lake bass fishing in the evening.

I usually fish with mine off but when i hear another boat

(and you SURE can hear them out in the dark)...

I light mine up too.

I wouldn't want to have a close encounter of the worst kind.)

How is the bass fishing on the lower taney? Do you catch mostly large or small mouth?

Phil,

I am interested in the bass fishing on Taney as well. When you say lower Taney---are you talking Forsyth area??? What tactics are you using for them this time of year? I am not real familiar with fishing the colder water of Taney. Thanks in advance.

I bass fished Taney with Phil last week. We caught all largemouths by mainly fishing laydowns and brush piles. Most of the fish were caught on 5" Senkos (smoke w/black and purple flake). We had some limited success just before dark with topwater poppers. We fished from downtown Branson to the old pirate cruise gold mine.

If you look back to last week, Phil posted fishing reports about bass fishing on Taney.

Texoma Okie

I should have mentioned that we fished the Senkos Texas-rigged with no weight.
