Members ogchad Posted August 4, 2010 Members Posted August 4, 2010 I am new to kayaking and this page. I have been doing alot of research and I am wanting to take a trip to the White River. I would like to find a campground area on the white where I would be able to kayak fish. Somewhere that I can hire someone to give us a ride up the river so we can kayak back towards the campgrounds. I have been canoeing on the White a LONG time ago but none recently. The friends that would be going with me all go to Hardy, AR to the Spring River and they love it. I would just like to try a different place. Was wondering if any of yall on here might have some suggestions of campgrounds and places to put in at. Also would need kayak rentals close by because not everyone that goes with us have there own kayak. Thanks
Members Firefish Posted August 5, 2010 Members Posted August 5, 2010 I think your camping choices are fairly limited. If I were you, I would stay at the state park below Bull Shoals. The campground is great, and they rent kayaks and canoes. I'm pretty sure they also do shuttles. You wouldn't be able to do a float to the campground, because of it's proximity to the dam, but there is some good fishing to be had right there at the park from a kayak depending on water flow. Rim Shoals Trout Resort also does shuttles, with several options depending on where you want to float. We did one from Wildcat Shoals to Rim Shoals in July, and we caught a lot of fish from some really beautiful water. Go to Rim Shoals and click Dock Services. Good luck.
gotmuddy Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 there is a free campground at optimus and finding shuttles shouldnt be any trouble. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Members ogchad Posted August 6, 2010 Author Members Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks guys. I will check these places out and make some decisions from there. Thanks for the input.
Members Rocky Posted August 13, 2010 Members Posted August 13, 2010 Check out His Place Resort: http://www.hisplaceresort.net/ They are primarily cabin rentals but have a few secluded camping spots that we stayed in about 5 years ago. They have a couple of fishing kayaks and a couple of SOT kayaks for rent and have a shuttle service. They are located just up-river of Cotter.
