I was just seeing if anyone was going to make it to the lake this fine evening. I went early this morning with my fly fishing gear and had a blast only catching two fish. My buddy and I were not equiped with the right flies, it might have been a bit better if we had a few more scuds and zebra midges. I was really trying to concentrating on good technique and form (from what I have read). I got my confidence up and am going to give it a go at night now.

I also went by lilley's after fishing and met Mr. Lilley and anouther great guy (sorry I forgot his name already, i'm terrible at that). Great people! They gave us some good advice and preffered flies (some of which we stocked up on). I should be ready to go next time I go durring daylight hours.

Well, looks like i'll be going tonight. I think i'm going to give the fly fishing gear a solid effort tonight, and try not to get frustrated with it and quite. Is anyone else planning on doing a little night fishing?

Thanks Mr Lilley, i'll have to wright that down or I will forget again. Thanks again for all the information the other day. All I can think about here lately is getting out again, with the fly rod, and use all the magic flies that catch fish.

I have been down there the last teo nights and it has been great. I think that I will go tonight. Three nights in a row might get a preidential veto if no veto I will be there. If the rain comes it will be awesome. Hope to see you down there. Sorry to everyone that fishes down there at night that love to meet and greet if I'm on the water I don't talk. Do not take it personal I have to put 100% concentration into what I'm doing or I will screw it up. I would lopve however to meet a all you. I will try to put a report on latter.

JoRob, his son and myself were up last night for a bit. I ended up with one bow around 9pm, but it seemed the fish turned off after that. We left at 10pm. For you experienced night fishermen, do the fish start their bite typically a hour or two after dusk?

I usually wait to leave the house until I go through our bed time routine with the kids and don't make it down there until 10pm or so. For me, some nights start off a little slower than others, but that could be becouse I don't figure out what they want until later. Just my experiance anyway.

Fishing at night is so dependent on what they with the water that day. If they run water the till dark like they do most of the time lets say 9-10 the fishing want be good untill about 11-12 because thats how long it will take the water to get all the way down. If they do not run water the fishing will be good right away. What I try and do is stick to dark pats on dark and cloudy nights when the moon is up and is bright I try and stick to the lighter colors. However with that said I seem to think that my best colors are shades of red. I can explain more if people want to learn why it works . Sorry it took me so long to respond I went to Tulsa yesterday to fish and ended up sitting in a huge rain storm that dumped about 3-4" of rain in about 1 hour. The river was rolling by the end of the storm. I think that is what they call it Flash Flooding.

As one who has yet to take to the intricacies of fly-fishing, I throw large Rapalas at night. It only took one trip to realize the folly of not going barbless, and now that's standard procedure. I recently read that I should also be removing the front treble, but it seems like I catch the majority of the fish on that particular hook - probably because the trout are trying to eat the head first for easy swallowing. I'm I committing a crime of etiquette by not removing the front hook, or do you think that it's ok so long as a fella is going barbless?
