budman
I am going to be in the Kings Rivers area on Aug. 28th, and I have never been fishing there and would like to know about some place to wade fish for the day. Usually go to Crooked Creek but what to try something new. Will bring both fly fishing gear and ultra light gear. What kind of baits work best and where can we go. Any help would be great. bobber
you really don't have that many options to just drive up and fish. but the two bridges one on hwy62 between eureka and berryville. and grandview about 3 miles from 62. would come to mind. at the 62 bridge Osage creek comes in could be another option... all the same baits as crooked creek work well on the kings! ... hope it helps? the kings river outfitters site has a river map. <*)))))))>< * AMERICAN CANOE ASSOCIATION CERTIFIED CANOE, and SWIFT WATER RESCUE INSTRUCTOR.*

Thanks for that information. Would a person be able to wade fish up or down stream from either of these bridges, if the water level was normal. Would like to be able to wade up or down maybe a mile and fish any deeper pools or rapids we could find. I know a couple of places on Crooked Creek but we have been wanting to try Kings River since we drive past it alot.
bobber
you bet , parking at grandview is a problem it's right on the road...but the 62 bridge is a game and fish public access, under the bridge. and you could go a long ways up stream or down without any trouble at all. lots of snakes!! more so than any other river i have ever been on...... (i hate snakes) <*)))))))>< * AMERICAN CANOE ASSOCIATION CERTIFIED CANOE, and SWIFT WATER RESCUE INSTRUCTOR.*
Wayne SW/MO
There was a fellow I knew who used to wade from Rockhouse upstream. I never personally did. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Zack Hoyt
I like going upstream of Hwy62. Downstream of 62 is very shallow for a long way. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
budman
Thanks for the help. I thinks we will go from the Hwy 62 bridge. With being able to park there and the other creek coming into the Kings there we think there would be our best option. Will report back how we did. bobber
here is a map link.. http://www.kingsriveroutfitters.com/riveraccess.html tablerock lake is up. I'm not sure how high it has backed-up the river. but your so close to having three or four spots to hit on the tail end..... but, above rock house is shallow, all but one long deep hole that everyone pounds.the next hole is about two miles up from that. <*)))))))>< * AMERICAN CANOE ASSOCIATION CERTIFIED CANOE, and SWIFT WATER RESCUE INSTRUCTOR.*
budman
We were able to fish Kings river Saturday above Hwy 62 bridge. The water was very shallow even though we walked up stream for more then a mile. We found just a few holes that were more then knee deep that were holding some fish. They were very skiddest and we were only able to catch a few. Caught one on my flyrod that came out from under some brush and attacked the fly, it happened to be a sucker. Fished about three hours with very few bites. Ended up driving to Crooked Creek and fished the rest of the day and managed to catch several more smallmouth each, but nothing of any size. We did see lots of snakes and had one swim so close to my son that it touched his leg. So you better wait until we get some rain before you give it a try.
