Members Eagle Rock Posted August 18, 2010 Members Posted August 18, 2010 Went out with a friend this morning around 6:00 AM. Just as the sun was rising, spots started jumping off the point we were fishing. In about 30 minutes, we caught over 20 bass. Only 1 keeper 16.5" and several 13" to 14" fish, but plenty of action just the same. He was throwing a shad color Pop-R and I was throwing a Chug Bug and Sammy. He said the was the most fun day of fishing he had ever had. This is the second time in 3 days I've seen the fish do this in the samearea; it's almost like the water is boiling. Been fishing the points just up (about 1/2 mile) from the mouth of the King's River in the Cedar Branch area. This pattern has been holding for a while now and should just get better over the next few weeks.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
T-RockJaws Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Not sure why, but the Cedar Branch area has always been one of the first to get a little top water action going in the late summer to fall time frame. It is a lot of fun, but I would not recommend it if you are just looking for keepers! Thanks for the report Eagle Rock...
Quillback Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Yes thanks for the report, one of these days I am going to make it up to Eagle Rock. (I'll be one of those 50 boats on your spot )
T-RockJaws Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 When the water really gets to boiling at Cedar Branch, there is probably plenty of room there for 50 boats. Well, maybe not quite 50 but several anyway... As long as it is all in good fun, I don't mind sharing a little water! Just get out there and look around a little, this isn't the only place where the top water action gets good this time of year...
