The gap width of this hook is .0350.

.0350 of an inch? That's just over a 1/16 inch. That gap size probably wouldn't hook a minnow.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

1/4 of an inch is .250 and .350 is approxximately 5/16 of an inch. Not much of a gap.

Excuse me. .0350 is just over 1/32" and 5/16 is .3125.

I was just checking because your statement said the hook gap was .0350. I assume you were talking inches here and not decimeters.

Anyway, a 1/4" gap on a jig hook is probably the smallest anyone would want if they were expecting to hook any fish bigger than a bluegill.

Although a size 20 TMC 101 dry fly hook has a gap of about .085" and they catch a lot of trout.

I should have reported the gap as .350 not .0350 Thanks for the correction.

No problemo.

Just a suggestion on the custom mold thing. If you have a blank mold you could contact your area high school vo tech or community college that offers machine shop. If you can provide a design of some type a lot of these schools and students are just looking for projects and if it is for personal use and not for a business they will do the project for little or no charge. I am the shop supervisor of a tool and die shop and I know that at least it works that way in this area. Good luck! I hope this helps!

Never would have thought of that in 10 years. I even know a teacher at the votech school in town. Thanks for the suggestion!
