Members Bill McC Posted June 22, 2006 Members Posted June 22, 2006 Wife and I are planning a small vacation. We don't want to travel very far due to the price of gas. We regularly fish Roaring River and Taneycomo. Was wondering what anyone would recommend for trout fishing trip. She absolutely hates Bennett Springs. Was wondering what would be close in Arkansas. We both wade and have no boat. Would like to take the camper with us. BillMc
John Berry Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 May I suggest the White River below Bull Shoals. There is a wonderful State Park there with great facilities and world class fishing running through it. RSBreth Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I'll second Bull Shoals State Park. I have camped there off and on for, jeez, it must be 15 years now. It will be more crowded in summer, but I have fished dry flies in the riffle by the park store and caught 16" cutts and rainbows, and the first time my girlfriend (now my wife) fished there she caught a 3 lb rainbow on her first cast on a little cleo spoon. You can get supplies at the little town of bull shoals. Harps grocery store. I like to stay at gastons resort when I have the funds, but some of my best times were camping at the state park.
Terry Beeson Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Can you "Third" a motion?... Either BS state park or the park below Norfork dam... I'm assuming you are coming from MO... Dutch Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I have never camped or fished there. However, I have been there and thought it was beautiful. I plan to make it one of my trips soon.
