After a long yesterday of baking in the sun and only picking up a few shorts this morning went a lot better. We weren't having much luck on the main points in the Shell Knob area the last couple so I thought I would shake things up and we started fishing channel swings with bluff banks (yes I know more of fall thing, but....) There were tons of small bass bustin on the surface this morning thanks to the cloud cover and we picked up 6 or 7 on spoons but most were on the small side. Once the morning rush died down we switched to drop shots and 4" watermelon zoom centipedes and that was the ticket. Both the wife and I picked up 6 or 7 nice keepers a piece, mix of spots and largemouth, all between 35-40' typically on the fall coming off a ledge with the boat in near 70' or more. Nothing spectacular but quite a few 2-3 lbers all happily back into the deep. Good luck out there and with the continued hot weather don't be afraid to mix it up on the patterns worked for us :)
