Members wiggle wart Posted September 26, 2010 Author Members Posted September 26, 2010 I have a nice area of public land picked out where I Saw plenty of tracks yesterday. I plan on hunting mainly in early November from my blind. Never shot a deer from a blind but have noticed it is gaining popularity. I like the idea of staying warmer and out of the wind, plus getting away with moving and not being detected. I will put it out of sight in cover. Hunted private land this morning and shot a small doe. Back straps on the grill tonight! I didn't put the arrow where I really wanted to friday evening, but the final result was a button buck about 75 yards from where I shot it. Slider
jbtiwns30 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 This is a real old thread but who knows someone else might look to see whats it about. I just moved here from Minnesota and I really dont know what the deer hunting is like around here yet but Im going to do what I did up there. I've shot so many deer on public land up there and have 10 wall hangers to show for it. Well one i shot on public land, anyways. What I did, I made sure I know where I was hunting months ahead of the hunt and where u hunt its real hilly, I try to find the funnels but I also try to find the secondary trails coming for the beding area and feeding areas. It seems you have alot of white acorns down here. All my bucks I took always came from the secondary trail on edge of the hills. During gun season, Ive shot some big bucks with my bow, at that point I didnt even care of what way the wind is blowing, I get in there way before the gun hunters get into the woods because most of the time when they start moving they wont see you and they will push the deer your way or any way. Now make sure you brought out food or what ever to make you stay at the tree all day because if the deer are not moving they will some time. I always make sure Im in my stand before dark and stay in there until the end. Those hunters will still spook something up and you neve know what might come your way. I believe in finding the secondary trails, most bucks up in Minnesota travel those then any other trail.
