kyle,

Are you indicating that they are going to introduce elk in the area or are you wishing for it to happen?

They are proposing to introduce elk into Missouri in the area around the Current river. It seem to be gaining a lot of attention and support. It was proposed back in 200, but got tabled because of the CWD and transferring to and from livestock. But, I am also wishing it would happen. I think it would be pretty neat to be on the river trout fishing and hearing bugles and if you're lucky maybe even see one. Also, as an avid hunter I think it would be great to have an opportunity to hunt elk and not have to pay thousands of dollars to head out west. I am sure it would be a drawing system but you would still have a shot.

The area proposed for elk restoration is nowhere near the trout waters. MDC is telling us they will not let them get that far. The first hunt for elk will be many years in the future.

1. MDC says a lot of things and if you think there is no way an elk could wonder off the proposed area you are naive. It looks to me to be no more than 25 miles (to the upper stretches of the trout water) by way the crow flies and I believe from everything I have read about elk, they cover that kind of distance in a day easily. So, to say "nowhere near" would be an incorrect statement.

2. I understand that the first elk hunt would be many years in the future, but you have to start somewhere. Being 26 years old I am fairly confident if they introduced elk there will be a Missouri elk season in my lifetime, but thank you for pointing out the obvious.

I didn't edit those pictures personally. A buddy of mine took them and edited them but he uses the same program I do. Go to www.picnik.com and download their software. You upload your pictures to the website and edit them through the website. Super easy and user friendly. You can really do some awesome things with it. I've edited a lot of pictures with it. Check out my blog...there are several on there as well.
