Members TaneyCo_Houseman Posted June 25, 2006 Members Posted June 25, 2006 I've never floated any portion of the James River. Me and a friend a planning on changing things up and floating something other than our good ole standbye's of Swan and Beaver creek. If were taking our time and fishing along the way about how long should it take us to get from Hootentown to Galena?
jdavis Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I hope you are planning at least an overnight trip. That is over twenty miles. Take a look at the James River Maps on this site. They have milage markers on them. If you really want to fish the water hard don't pick a float that is to long. You will end up paddeling over some real fishy looking water.
RSBreth Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Hootentown to Galena is too long unless you really know the water. There are several places in this part of the river that I skip and concentrate on the real good places I have caught good bass in the past (sorry, I can't say where) But Hootentown to H.L. Kerr access is easily done in a day and a good float.
