timsfly Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Fishing was really good today, the recent rains have brought the river up a foot or so, but it has remained clear, and the river is still lower than normal. Great dry fly fishing this morning, the trout were hitting #14 adams and #14 royal wulffs, I was fishing those dries with a #18 WD-40 dropper(olive) about 15" under the dries, and couldn't keep the fish off the big dries, caught a few on the droppers also, the action tapered off a bit on the dries so I put a lightly weighted crackleback on( griz/green) about a #14 in size and caught fish like crazy on this pattern for an hour or so, got up around the hatchery and put on a Al's deer hair pellet fly, and caught 14 trout on this fly and finally broke it off, and I was getting bored so I headed to Crane to fish awhile. Lots of trout were being caught on R.R. today, saw a bunch caught on orange, and cheese colored plastic worms, one couple were catching trout about every other cast or so on white powerbait eggs, and I did see a few being caught on olive micro jigs. Black/white(skunk) and black roostertails have been working well, also a lot of nice trout being caught on small egg patterns(glo-balls) Water is still very clear and not all that high, so use 7X (2lb) line when possible, good luck on the river this week.
