Members jnorman Posted September 17, 2010 Members Posted September 17, 2010 Anybody have experience fishing the spillway at Perry lake? I know the past two state record hybrids have been pulled out of there. I just moved and found out I am about an hour away so I thought I would give it a shot. The best time to fish is when it's raining . . . and when it's not!
drew03cmc Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Perry is no closer than Truman Dam is to you. Perry's Outlet is much smaller than Truman's is. Andy
Members jnorman Posted September 23, 2010 Author Members Posted September 23, 2010 Actually, the location on my profile is where I moved from. I am now in Overland Park so Perry is about 30 or 45 minutes closer. I went over there last week with no luck. Your right, it is definitely a lot smaller than Truman but it seems like a decent place to fish. The best time to fish is when it's raining . . . and when it's not!
drew03cmc Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 It can be. Fish it in high water and the larger fish come to the dam to feed on the smorgasbord of fish coming through the dam's tube. It is much the same at Clinton which is about twenty minutes from my front door. Andy
bluebasser86 Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 There has been more than one species of state record fish caught from the spillway at Perry. The most important part like any spillway is that there needs to be water moving. If the water isn't flowing it's almost impossible sometimes. It can be really good fishing for several different species though.
