GloryDaze Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 So my wife and I are planning on making the trip down next Saturday-Monday and I had a few questions: 1) If you guys get no rain, are we looking at putting in at Tyler Bend or lower? 2) If we put in there, is there a campground in the area similar to Kyles Landing, I'm just not familiar with anything below Kyle's- where they have bathrooms and running water (sorry, I am bringing the wife and those 2 are a must) 3) I am looking at a 1 day float on Sunday, maybe 6-8 miles. I will have my own canoe, but will need someone to shuttle my car either up stream or down depending on the float (any suggestions) Thanks for the help! Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
flytyer57 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I'm just not familiar with anything below Kyle's- where they have bathrooms and running water (sorry, I am bringing the wife and those 2 are a must) Just tell her the bathroom is behind that tree over yonder, and the running water is in the riverbed. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Danoinark Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 A friend and I were discussing this and he suggested: From Tyler Bend, I don't think there are any campgrounds like he needs. He needs to look at one of the Maumees down to Buffalo Point where they have showers, hot air blowers and nice bathrooms. If he wants another day, he can start at Buffalo Point and go down to Rush the second day. I suppose he could go upriver from Tyler Bend and camp at Tyler Bend, but I've never paddled that stretch or camped there. It is very close to Highway 65. Buffalo Point is more secluded, although it is perhaps the most used campground on the river. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
bobber Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 the only two camp grounds with hot water showers are tyler and buffalo point . but all camp grounds have water and a bathrooms. looking at the forecast you might need rain gear?...we have a large rain event coming in <*)))))))>< * AMERICAN CANOE ASSOCIATION CERTIFIED CANOE, and SWIFT WATER RESCUE INSTRUCTOR.*
