I put Rain-X on one of the paddles and tested it in my hot tube, as I raised it up it drips dry so fast water barley had time to reach the drip ring, I wonder how long it would stay on the paddle.

Wow the other paddle just holds the water like a film of water sticks to it.

Any one use this?

I was considering making a spray skirt for my kayak just for this reason.

Never thought of using Rain-X on the paddles, but if the water drips right off, I think I might try it.

Then again, I have a sot kayak so I get wet no matter what I do.

This would be a cool video: to dunk the paddles in a tub of water side by side and see just how fast the water washes right off the treated one when you lift them up, truly amazing.

I wonder if silicone spray would do the same thing. Or a paste wax.

Either way I am carrying this rain-x concentrate in the car for more than just the windshield.

It works as a dry fly floatant in a pinch. You have to treat them ahead of time and let them dry.

I assume the Rain X will not have any adverse effects on a plastic paddle. I was thinking there was some warning about using it on plastic. Would be a help in the winter to keep the ice buildup off.

Will Rain-X someday make "Watershed" obsolete?

Only if you quit buying it and use Rain X.

Got me a 16.9 oz bottle of Rain-X for less than what I paid for a 0.5 oz bottle of Watershed.

When the Watershed is gone...

A little humor on replies to this subject on a boat building forum:

Hey you might just be on to something. I mean, with the way it repels water, you could maybe just hold the paddle in the water and it would repel itself upstream. I'd experiment though. I'd try putting Rain-X only on one side. That way I'd have more control over which direction I went.....

cover yourself in rain x, so when you capsize, it just beads off...

You're just going to go in circles like NASCAR unless you do that other paddle....

Yeah, if you put it on the soles of your shoes you wont even need that boat n stuff!

And I thought I had too much time on my hands.

Thanks for the laugh tho.

Rain-X is just a liquid wax. you can use a everyday car wax to achieve the same results.
