Members moflyrod Posted October 14, 2010 Members Posted October 14, 2010 I am far to young to die, so please don't disclose the color of your midge, however curious as to size, as it has been my experience 18 will out fishing everything else I try at Bennett, regardless of color?
brittsnbirds Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I can answer that, 18 and smaller!! BTW Rich your not the only one to own a Winston now!!
Members moflyrod Posted October 14, 2010 Members Posted October 14, 2010 Thanks for the reply and good to know, it seems that as I have tried smaller stuff, the bites have gone down....must be the guy holding the rod

Going smaller tends to cause them to ride higher sometimes. As well as going smaller on the tippet. You will also notice the hookups will be less as well. Smaller hook equals a smaller amount of bite! Unless your NoLuck and you have the eye of an eagle and reflexes of a Cat!!

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack

rcguy Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I'm heading down next friday and sat the 22nd and 23rd in case anyone else is going down then. Looking forward to trying my new midges in various sizes and my new SIMMS wading staff....pretty pricey but very nice and beats drowning. I don't need it much of the time but deep wading/walking is really creeping me out lately. Maybe it's the trifocal glasses or something.
brittsnbirds Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 What did you get Pat? I'm really thinking about a 4 wt. I got a 8'6 5wt Vapor from a guy that lurks around on here. Come to find out he is a local. I might see you several of us (?) will be there the 20th till 24th.
