Members MST SigEp
Does anyone here regularly use a bandana for a face covering while fishing/fly fishing? You see every once in a while a few people with more expensive face coverings I was just curious if anyone used bandanas. It hasn't really been cold enough to really get a good feel for how they preform and I wanted to know before it got to cold. Thanks for the help! I have seen those face scarves though. Supposedly they are designed to help keep you cool out on the salt flats too. I don't think a bandana would do that. Different material. Mitch f
I only use a white ascot when fishing, when the fish comes to the surface to get a good look at it, he gets his butt-cot..... Terry Beeson
Buff headwear comes in several types - some to protect from the wind and or sun, some to keep you warm. A cotton bandana will not do much other than give you a bit of protection from the sun, but not from the cold wind. There are much better products out there for that. stlfisher
Are you looking to keep your face warm in the winter or are you thinking of one to keep out the sun and sweat in the summer? They make a neoprene face guard that I have used in cold weather for skiing. It would probably be great for winter trout fishing. I am sure there is something along those lines on the market. Members MST SigEp
My overall goal is to have an all purpose solution. I want to keep the sun out in the summer and be able to dip it in the stream to keep cool. I also want to keep the cutting wind off my face and mouth if at all possible. I already have a bandana and it works well in the summer but I want to gear up before it gets cold.

flytyer57
come on, I thought it was good So did I. That's why I put the there in my post. But it was still a smart-butt remark. Maybe that's why I liked it? There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
